Kuching, 26 Jun 2026 Friday - The Environmental Education Division (EED) of the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak, in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), successfully organized the Stakeholder Engagement: Workshop on Environmental Education Module at Serapi Hotel, Kuching, from 23 to 25 June 2026.

The workshop served as an interactive platform for stakeholder engagement and dialogue, bringing together representatives from government ministries, agencies, educational institutions, organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and schools. The programme aimed to gather valuable insights, perspectives, and recommendations to support the development of a structured and inclusive environmental education module for Sarawak, in line with the RMK-13 initiative on the development of a comprehensive environmental education and outreach module for the state.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr. Kenny Poon, Deputy Controller (Management), who welcomed all participants and highlighted NREB's aspiration to develop a comprehensive environmental education module as a standardized tool to support the delivery of environmental education programmes by various stakeholders across Sarawak.

Mr. Kenny Poon also chaired the discussion session between NREB and UNICEF on 25 June 2026. The meeting resulted in fruitful discussions and provided both parties with a clearer direction and strategic milestones for the implementation of environmental education initiatives over the next five years.

The workshop was attended by 55 participants representing various organizations, including the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESty), Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), Sarawak State Education Department, Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Tun Abdul Razak Kota Samarahan, Institut Aminuddin Baki (IAB), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), UNICEF, WWF-Malaysia, WormingUp, Wildlife Conservation Society, representatives from 17 schools, and officers from NREB Sarawak.
