KUCHING, 4 May 2028 — A technical workshop between NREB, PETROS, and Petra Energy Development Sdn. Bhd. (PEDSB) was held at Hilton Kuching to review the Adong Kechil West (AKW) onshore oil and gas project.

Discussions focused on non-routine flaring during commissioning, start-up, and well testing, in line with the Environment (Reduction of Greenhouse Gases Emission) Ordinance 2023 and Flaring and Venting Rules 2025.

NREB reaffirmed its policy of zero routine flaring and outlined requirements for emissions monitoring and compliance. The AKW project in Block SK433 is designed on a zero routine flaring basis.

The workshop aimed to align technical justifications, address gaps, and determine a clear regulatory path for project approval while ensuring environmental standards are upheld.
