Lawas, 9 July 2026 – The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) conducted a technical visit to the Lawas Power Station to strengthen officers’ understanding of scheduled wastes management practices in the power generation sector.
The visit was attended by officers from NREB Headquarters and the NREB Limbang Divisional Office. Participants were briefed on the power station’s scheduled wastes management system, including the handling, storage and management of scheduled wastes in accordance with applicable environmental regulations and industry best practices.
The programme also served as a platform for technical discussions and knowledge sharing between NREB officers and the management of Lawas Power Station. These engagements provided valuable insights into effective scheduled wastes management while reinforcing the importance of regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.
The technical visit reflects NREB’s commitment to continuously enhancing the competency of its officers through practical industry exposure. The knowledge gained is expected to strengthen environmental monitoring, compliance and enforcement efforts, contributing to more effective and sustainable scheduled wastes management across Sarawak.
