The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak has been honoured with the Malaysia Stakeholder Engagement of the Year – Education Award at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026, held on 9 July 2026 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The award recognises NREB’s flagship environmental education initiative, PALS Club (Kelab Pencinta Alam Sekitar).
Receiving the award on behalf of NREB, DCO Penny Sumok extended her appreciation to all parties who have contributed to the success of the PALS Club initiative, including the State Government, various government agencies, NREB staff, corporate partners, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
This recognition affirms NREB’s leadership in environmental stewardship and reflects the strength of collaborative, multi-stakeholder engagement in advancing environmental education across Sarawak, affirming PALS Club’s role as a model for sustained impact as the programme moves toward its 100% school registration by 2027.
