KUCHING, 19 December 2025 – The Sarawak Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, in collaboration with F&N Berhad and the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak, successfully organised the Prize Presentation Ceremony for the Southern Zone School-Level Recycling Competition 2025 at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.
The competition, conducted throughout 2025, aimed to enhance students’ awareness of recycling through the 4R principles—Rethink, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. A total of 139 schools from six local councils in the Southern Zone participated, involving more than 40,000 students and demonstrating strong commitment towards environmental sustainability.
The ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak. Also present were YBhg. Datu Elizabeth Loh and the Controller of NREB, YBhg. Datu Jack anak Liam.
Awards were also presented to 12 local authorities with the highest recycling collection volumes, with Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) emerging as the top winner.
