Kapit 13 Nov 2025 Thursday - In a collaborative effort between Sarawak Energy, the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), Kapit District Education Office (PPD), and Shanghai Electric Sdn. Bhd., an Environmental Awareness Programme was successfully held on 12–13 November 2025 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Lepong Balleh, Kapit.

The two-day programme, attended by 100 pupils and teachers from 12 primary schools in Kapit District, was designed to instil environmental consciousness at an early age. Activities included educational talks on electrical safety and environmental awareness, as well as interactive sessions such as “Plastic Pollution to Solution”, where pupils learned to create eco-bricks—plastic bottles packed with clean, dry, non-biodegradable waste to form reusable building blocks. Friendly competitions were also organised, including the Enviro Hunt and the Environmental Innovative Competition, where pupils showcased creative projects made from recyclable materials, demonstrating both innovation and presentation skills.

During the closing ceremony, ADUN N61 Pelagus YB Wilson Nyabong Anak Ijang, emphasised the importance of instilling care for the environment from a young age. He praised the theme “From Plastic Pollution to Solution” as highly relevant to current global challenges, stressing that education is the most powerful tool to drive lasting change.
