Kuching 17 May 2025 Saturday - Senior Environmental Control Officer, Gs. Joseph Uyo has successfully completed the Certified Sustainability & ESG Practitioner conducted on 12-17 May 2025. There were 28 participants from various background; Professors frm Universities, Managing Director/Director/Engineers/Bank Officers/Environment & ESG Consultants/government officers. The Summit-Masterclass is a 6-day intensive program designed to empower participants with essential skills in conducting materiality assessment, developing actionable ESG strategies and comprehensive sustainability reports, and implementing carbon accounting to strengthen ESG integration across financial and non-financial reporting. This program is structured around three core courses: ESG Reporting for ESG Leaders and Managers, Sustainability Reporting: SDGs and Compliance, and GHG Accounting & Reporting Principles.

Participants engaged with internationally recognised ESG frameworks, including GRI, SASB and TCFD, and gain practical insights into aligning corporate ESG performance with business performance, risk management and regulatory compliance.  The program also explores how organisations can integrate emission data into ESG reporting to assess environmental impact, set reduction targets and enhance resilience against climate risks. With a focus on aligning corporate sustainability strategies with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this masterclass equips participants with the expertise to drive sustainability value creation while meeting global sustainability commitments.

Upon completion, participants were awarded the Certified Sustainability & ESG Practitioner (ESGp) credential, accredited by CICPD in partnership with UTHM. Thev would also earn 24 CICPD credits, which could also be applied towards pursuing the next level of Specialist and Expert credentials in sustainability and ESG. Assignment has been given of which the participants required to assess the adherence and compliance of an existing ESG or Sustainability Report to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards that included evaluation of a materiality analysis, data collection and monitoring practices, and how well the report aligns with GRI standards.
