NREB, MEESTy and SAINS - benchmarking visit to the National Environment Agency (NEA), Singapore

Singapore, 14 March 2025 Friday - A 22-member delegation, comprising 18 representatives from NREB, 1 from MEESTy, and 3 from SAINS conducted a benchmarking visit to the National Environment Agency (NEA) in Singapore on 13-14 March 2025. The visit aimed to enhance Sarawak’s capabilities in GHG emissions monitoring, enforcement strategies, and waste-to-energy (WTE) solutions by gaining insights from Singapore’s advanced environmental management systems.
The objectives of the Visit are to (i) Understand NEA’s Emissions Data Monitoring and Analysis (EDMA) System; (ii) Gain insights into GHG enforcement and compliance mechanisms; (iii) Explore waste-to-energy solutions at TuasOne WTE Plant; and (iv) Foster collaboration between NEA and NREB to strengthen regulatory practices. This visit provided valuable knowledge and experience for NREB. The insights gained play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Environment (Reduction of Greenhouse Gases Emission) Ordinance, 2023. aligning with Sarawak’s commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
