BINTULU: The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak is currently in the process of developing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultants Management System towards improving its services.

NREB Sarawak controller of environmental quality Justine Jok Jau Emang said this new system would improve the EIA consultants for new registration and renewal process.

According to him, the process is being conducted manually, adding that the registration of EIA consultants must be processed within 14 days for new sign-ups, and four days for renewals.

“The NREB will also be implementing the Employee Self-Service System for NREB staff throughout Sarawak. From this system, all leaves, claims and even loans by NREB staff can be handled more efficiently and in a more organised manner,” he spoke during NREB’s ‘Integrity and Innovation Day 2019’ themed ‘Integrity and Innovation – Cores of Organisation’s Success’, at Promenade Hotel here yesterday.

Samalaju assemblyman Majang Renggi officiated at the event, witnessed by Deputy Bintulu Resident Husaini Hakim, NREB Sarawak deputy controller Paul Bond Chamberlin, and event’s guest speaker Nasarudin Mohd Nor.

Adding on, Justine said since last year, NREB had been using drone technology to help carry out environmental enforcement and monitoring activities.

“This is among the innovations implemented by the NREB.”
